Punta Leona
Punta Leona is actually not an official town in the Puntarenas province, but it is one of Costa Rica's most gorgeous beach areas, home of and one of the oldest country beach clubs. The Punta Leona Resort & Villas is one of the most special places in Puntarenas. On holidays, it's jammed packed with local, tourists and members alike, all of them enjoying their 2 popular beaches: Playa Mantas, which is a public beach; and Playa Blanca, which is a semi-private beach, mostly due to remote access for non-members. There are many activities to partake in within the complex such as sun bathing, canopy tours, mini golf, and more. One of the mainstays in Punta Leona are the Pizotes, a raccoon-like animal that are very mischievous and well-known for foraging for human food and getting into personal belongings while visiting the beach. Playa Blanca is a wonderful spot that shares most of Punta Leona's qualities and it's a perfect place to catch the fantastic sunset set against the Nicoya Penninsula in the background!
